I've spent a lot of money on my equipment! Often, it's a long process that can take days to get the right shot, and having excessive weight to carry around forests and mountains at my age is just exhausting. This one checks all the boxes! Comes with a nice carrying pouch and strap, wasn't expecting to get such great image quality for that money! I mean let's face it, there is no such thing as good optic and affordable. But this company somehow made it happen! Don't see any reason to spend thousands of dollars if I can simply go with my new Python HD attached to my iPhone and get comparable image quality. I do suggest using a more stable tripod at 50x times magnification and more.

I seriously can't believe how I did not find this Python pocket telescope much earlier. I mean it's the size of my palm and when refracted you literally can see miles and miles away. Observing wild animals or birds in flight works perfectly and with the smartphone attached you can even record those shots in beautiful 4K. I can definitely recommend this one, couldn't find an optic that can beat the price to performance here!
The Python HD can reach magnification numbers of 200x times magnification and more, depending on the smartphone model you are using. Attaching a new iPhone 14 Pro for example enables you to reach up to 50x times magnification. Some smartphone models, like the Samsung S22 or S23 Ultra come inherently with up to 100x times magnification. Attaching the Python HD using the included smartphone adapter will combined reach up to 136x times magnification, which is mind boggling considering the form factor.

The included smartphone adapter works with any smartphone model, big or small. Some smartphones have a multiple camera set up and are switching between those depending on the mode and magnification you choose on the smartphone. When aligning the smartphone adapter, simply make sure to cover the lens which is currently in use. For most models, it will be the top lens for most occasions.

Using great glass quality and fully multi-coated lenses for the Python HD allows us to reduce glare and improve its light-gathering ability of our high powered optics. The Python HD uses a barium BAK4 prism made from SCHOTT glass, which is industry standard. Even at darker hours, the Python HD will perform exceptionally well and offers bright and clear images. Attaching a low light capable smartphone will provide even better results.
Monoculars have been used for centuries for spotting far away objects and improve the human sight. There exist accounts of ancient monoculars used in Arabia. Napoleon always carried one with him. A monocular offers a more condensed and precise view than binoculars. One of the main differences between monoculars and binoculars is that monoculars only have one lens barrel, while binoculars have two. This means that monoculars can be a better option for people who have vision difficulties in one eye. Why?
The brain down or up regulates eye vision for each eye to have a median and balanced view. There is a lot of processing goin on in the background, so to say. In the case one eye has superior vision, the brain inhibits the eye that has inherently a better sight and/or tries to improve the eye that has inherently weaker sight. Of course there is just so much that can be done if the lens and light angles are not optimally directing light to your retina. Nevertheless, there are muscles controlling your eye movement and lens dilation, which can be used to optimize that organs function.
This costs processing power and can be the root cause for headaches, migraines and other conditions, if the differences between your eyes is significant. Naturally this mechanism prevents you from fully unlocking your eye sight potential for the good eye, when both eyes are used. Glasses can correct this issue for the majority of the time, but it cant be 100% cured. With a monocular you can circumvent this issue and enjoy a higher degree of visual detail than you would be able to with binoculars, because your brain can fully concentrate on one eye. Having slightly different eyesight between eyes is natural and even present with completely healthy individuals. Therefore, using a monocular with the stronger eye, has many benefits.
Further, even compact binoculars such as 10x42 or smaller are clunkier and heavier to carry around than the Python HD, which can be refracted into a perfect pocket size and carried around all day without the help of a binocular harness.
First comes to mind the lightweight form factor. Telescopes in general are big and very heavy, which makes it almost impossible to travel with one around or bring it to your next hike. A good telescope also costs thousands of dollars. The Python HD on the other hand is very affordable, can be brought to any hike, travel adventure or a simple walk outdoors and leverages the technology you already have in your pocket, your smartphone. Many of our customers prefer purchasing a stable tripod separately to ensure even better stability for those long range views.
