The Specification for this chair states that it will hold a "Maximum Weight of 396 lbs. You should not have a problem rising from a sitting position. Having worked with disabled pts for over 30 years, I would strongly suggest that you always have both hands on your arms of the chair, using equal pressure when you rise for stability. Then, once your standing take hold of your cane. Rising using 1 arm/hand for support may cause this 11.9lb chair to tip sideways. Safety is always paramount.
No, assembly is not required.
Ah yes, dicey chair to figure out. I fold the back down, then reach down to lower the horizontal bar that you use to put it up. I find if I lay it on its side things go easier. Once it collapses, push the seat arm rest down on each side, and you will see the carry handle on the back of the seat. Pick it up and you are good to go. Being a man, I eschewed the instructions, and had to dig them out of the trash to figure it all out.
When I put kit up, I fold it out as far as I can, then put a foot on the bottom strut and pull the horizontal bar up until it clicks. I use the side without the tray.
