First design
There is something about the first time you look through a really good pair of binoculars. It's very different than using normal binos (binoculars), because you think that it simply amplifies the distance you can see. This is the case with most optics. But, if you had the chance to look through an alpha glass Swarovski, Zeiss or Leica you will discover something that many people almost experience as a transcendental awakening, unlocking a feast for their eyes that they have never experienced before. Most people who had the chance will never be able to use bad binoculars again. There is just no going back from this.
Our vision with the Pilot was to create exactly that experience. We wanted the Pilot to not just be durable, and aesthetically pleasing, and enriched with handmade craftsmanship and a beautiful design, but to be a feast for your eyes first!

The pilot is designed to aesthetically fit into every home, any apartment, like a beautiful pair of Bang & Oulfsen speakers or a Leica camera.
At the same time we designed the Pilot to be a tool you can take anywhere, withstanding the harshest environmental conditions, while being extremely lightweight and comfortable to hold.
First Prototype
Our first prototype uses a full magnesium alloy body, which is not just half the weight of aluminum, but considered the hardest structural metal in the world. In fact magnesium alloy is lighter than aluminum and as hard as titanium, making it the perfect choice to protect our optical system.
Another big advantage of magnesium, is its stability under temperature fluctuations, maintaining optimal optical performance in freezing colds and extremely hot and humid environments.
The focus wheel is the lightest and most precise you will ever touch. We think its important to have a smooth, fast and easy focus without any strain. We are still working on optimizing the diopter rings and eyecups to improve your viewing experience even further.
Next comes the body design. We want the Pilot to resemble something like a well made Leica camera, timeless in design and function. To achieve that, we will be focusing on real leather, rubberized elements, and beautiful steel finish, avoiding bulky rubber-bodies.
